Conference Interpreting

Conferences require interpreting services, a team of professionals who can handle all the requirements, at the highest level. In addition to the language pairs to be covered, information to be translated in advance, guests who need an interpreter, and speeches translated into headphones, translation agencies involved in organizing conferences must adapt to all the other organizational details.

  • Event venue
The venue should adapt to the number of participants, but also to the event itself; it should be spacious enough and have appropriate acoustics. It can be in a dedicated event center, in a hotel, in the company’s conference room, or in a place that suits the chosen theme. The translation agency can make recommendations based on previous experience and needs to check the space where the event will take place, in order to prepare the necessary equipment and ensure the best working conditions.
  • Simultaneous interpretation booths
The translation agency can provide all the equipment, including interpretation booths, headphones and receivers. Booths are necessary for simultaneous interpretation. And if consecutive interpretation is chosen, the interpreter will sit next to the speaker and will only need a microphone.
  • Time planning
The event schedule must be planned in detail. The client must provide the interpreters with all the information and conference materials on time and accept the recommended number of interpreters. A single interpreter cannot translate a whole day of discussions. Interpreters usually work in teams of 2 and take turns at the microphone. Simultaneous interpretation is demanding and even the best interpreters need a break after a certain period.
